In her New Yorker profile, Quinta Brunson, the creator, head writer, and star of Abbott Elementary, vulnerably divulged a favorite comedy movie of hers. If the brilliant mind behind Abbott Elementary—which you should watch if you are even tangentially a fan of other mockumentary style shows like the Office— can admit her love for a film that received a meager 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, I too can say Daddy’s Home is an absolute banger. In a world where everything seems to be given a star rating, remember to keep an open mind. Because you might just find—that something considered critical consensus trash—is one of your favorite comedies of all time.

Genetic evidence for approved drug indications

Drug development is a laborious process—in terms of time and cost. Therefore, prioritization of candidate drugs with the highest likelihood of surviving the pipeline gauntlet—preclinical to approval—is critical. In their 2015 Nature Genetics article, Nelson et al investigated the role that genetic evidence for mechanism plays in clinical development success rate. They found that selecting drug candidates with genetic evidence for mechanism could lead to an estimated double success rate in making it to approval. This was supported by showing that 2.8% and 8.2% of preclinical and approved drugs, respectively, have genetic evidence for mechanism.
